Guanajuato

Guanajuato is located in north-central Mexico and is one of the most important cities in the country, both culturally and historically. It has been declared a World Heritage City and is known as the Jewel of the Americas for the discovery of gold and silver, which brought it fame and wealth, in addition to being a university campus.

With its ancient and colorful buildings covering the hills, the city is vibrant with its charm, featuring Baroque and Neoclassical buildings and palaces, inviting you to take the best photographs from every angle. In addition to its mysterious tunnels, strolling through its alleys, plazas, and cultural and historical attractions make it a very attractive destination.

Guanajuato was the scene of the greatest insurgent triumphs, with the capture of the Alhóndiga de Granaditas, which can currently be visited. For this reason, the city is heroic and full of character, bearing traces of independence and making it a source of pride for Mexicans.

In addition to maintaining its roots in its deep-rooted traditions, its numerous art galleries, and craft exhibits, the destination is also home to Latin America’s premier artistic and cultural event, the International Cervantino Festival, named after Miguel Cervantes de Saavedra, author of Don Quixote de la Mancha.

The state of Guanajuato boasts iconic colonial cities such as San Miguel de Allende, León, Irapuato, and Celaya, as well as five magical towns: Dolores Hidalgo, Jalpa, Salva Tierra, Yuriria, and Mineral de Pozos, all of which are popular destinations outside of Guanajuato City. These towns offer a distinct charm and distinct tourist attractions.
